Raipur, Feb 27, 2010: A large number of tribals today took out a huge rally highlighting their plight and demanding reservation for ST in elected offices.
Perhaps it was one of the rarest occasion in which the bureaucrats, people’s representatives, members from BJP, Congress, Gondwana Gantantra party (GGP) and Ministers of Raman Singh Government actively participated to raise the slogans all tribals are alike (Ek tir, ek kaman, Sare adivasi ek saman).
The gathering demands stop in curtail of the rights of tribals in Chhattisgarh and also reservation for them in the posts in Panchayat and urban local bodies.
They also demanded 32 per cent reservation for tribals in government services.
The Rally also demanded dismissal of the government employees, having fake caste certificate, and lodging of police cases against them.
Former BJP State President Nand Kumar Sai, former Central Minister Aravind Netam, Ministers Ram Vichar Netam, Congress leaders Mahendra Karma, Domendra Bhedia, Dr Prem Sai Singh, Ram Dayal Uikey, BJP Leaders Sohan Potai, Prabodh Minj, Mahesh Gagda, Bhima Mandavi, Bedhuram Kahsyap, Lachhuram Kashyap, GGP leader Hira Singh Markam, Communist leader Manish Kunjam and tribal leader K R Saha and IAS officer G S Dhananjaya among others were present.
