Raipur, November 11, 2009: Senior Indian Forest Service officer and State Planning Board Member Secretary Sobha Subramanyam has breathed her last here after a brief illness.
Wife of the Secretary to the Chief Minister and senior IFS officer K Subramanyam, Sobha died at the Raipur Medical College Hospital here where she was admitted in an ICU looking into her condition.
Sobha died yesterday night, officials sources said here.
Hours before her dead, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and his wife Veena Singh had visited her in the hospital to enquire about her health and to wish her a speedy recovery.
Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen and a host of ministers, MLAs, bureaucrats from IAS, IPS and IFS cadres and other eminent persons visited the official residence of Subramanyam and paid their tributes and also to console the Subramanyam family.
Her last rite was performed here later in the day in the presence of several prominent personalities from various walks of life.
