Raipur, January 22, 2009: The infighting in the main opposition Congress legislature party was continued even one month after the Chhattisgarh assembly election.
To buy peace with in the party, the new Leader of Opposition Ravindra Choubey wanted senior leader Nand Kumar Patel to be the main Spokesman of the Congress Legislature Party. Similarly two more supporters of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, Haridas Bharadwaj and Agni Chandrakar, are offered the post of party whips in the Assembly.
However, Congress sources said Patel has refused to accept that post.
It was a very small post compared to the stature of Patel. Secondly when the Kharsia MLA Patel was on the race for PCC President or the Leader of Opposition, a spokesman post is not up to his stature, sources close to Patel told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
When contacted Patel also refused to comment on the development and told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com “the Leader of Opposition is the best person to comment who should be given what responsibility and who is best for what”.
Against the wish of many prominent leaders, Saja MLA Ravindra Choubey managed to capture the top post of the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party and the Leader of Opposition, which is a cabinet minister ranked post.
However, leaders like Jogi, Patel, Dharamjeet Singh and many tribal leaders, like Kawashi Lakhma are not happy with him and have drafted different strategies. One section of the party MLAs are also blaming Jogi for the Congress sitting in the opposition bench for another five year when some more are thanking Jogi for their privilege to be inside the Assembly
