Kanker, December 25, 2022: A Chhattisgarh Armed Force personnel today opened fire on two fellow policemen, killing a head constable.
While one head constable was killed on the firing, another jawan had a providential escaped, police sources said.
Purushottam Singh, the accused police personnel, was deployed at the PG College here for strong room duty to guard the ballot boxes of recently held Bhanupratappur assembly by-election.
After a heated argument Constable Singh opened fire on his senior head constable Surendra Bhagat, sources said.
Singh fired from his INSAS weapon and killed head constable Surendra Bhagat, whereas fired four rounds at another constable Brijesh Bhardwaj, who escaped unhurt, they said.
After the incident the accused personnel locked him-self inside a room, which was surrounded by armed guards and was being persuaded to surrender, the sources said.
