Raipur, November 10, 2008: Ruling BJP has complaint to Central Election Commission alleging that former Chief Minister and Congress campaigner Ajit Jogi had violated the Model Code of Conduct during his tour of Durg District.
On November 5, Jogi’s helicopter landed in Cricket Ground of Bhilai Steel City and spent about half an hour in the room number 24 of the Bhilai Hotel, in the Complaint BJP said.
As per the directives of the Election Commission no political parties or leaders can use any government premises and since both the Cricket Ground and Bhilai Hotel are the properties of the Central Public Sector Undertaking Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), the Congress leader Jogi had violated the Model Code of Conduct, BJP said.
Hence, taking steps for free and fair election strong action should be initiated against Jogi and his Congress party, the BJP appealed to the Election Commission yesterday.
