Raipur, March 15, 2011: Former Lok Sabha MP and prominent BJP leader from Chhattisgarh Karuna Shukla was today appointed in charge to conduct organisational election in the neighbouring Jharkhand.

BJP President Nitin Gadkari today appointed Shukla for conducting organisational election in Jharkhand, BJP sources said.

The Election would be held on March 17 and 18, they added.

BJP in Jharkhand had received several blows in the recent past and after a deal with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Arjun Munda became the Chief Minister, although many insiders had opposed any kind of understanding with JMM for a long term benefit to the BJP.
