Baikunthpur, June 12, 2009: Chhattisgarh government has taken an ambitious step to plant four lakh sapling of sandal wood in Korea district.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today reviewed various developmental works during his ongoing District Contact Campaign and asked the District Collector Alok Awasthy and other officials to adopt several measures to create a history in the state.
When he was informed in the review meeting that the administration was planning for plantation of four lakh sandal wood trees, Singh said Korea would be creating a history and soon be known in the country as a Sandal wood district, but for that several steps had to be taken.
The Chief Minister said all the local residents should be given one sapling to plant that in their premises.
Singh also announced to upgrade Baikunthpur as the Municipality from Notified Area Council.
