     Raipur, August 25, 2010: A ten feet diameter Rakhi, said to be the largest of the world, was tied to a Sal tree brother by the members of a local eco club and forest officials of Kondagaon town of Bastar district in Chhattisgarh on the eve of Rakhi.

     The tree Rakhi underlines the importance of trees in protection of environment and to mitigate the adverse climatic change, a release said.

    This tree protection festival was an unique effort started by Chairman of the Green Guardian Society Raipur, Suniti Yadav for creation of collective conservation consciousness in public and especially in women and children

    Tying rakhi to trees was also regarded as the second wave of world fame Chipko movement in Chhattisgarh, the release said.
