Raipur, April 26, 2025: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, while reviewing the works of the Higher Education Department today, said that special efforts should be made to include the universities and colleges of the state in the ranking of the top 100 educational institutions of the country on the basis of quality.

The Chief Minister said that if this is done, then students of other states will also give preference to Chhattisgarh for studies, which will strengthen the educational image of the state at the national level.
Sai directed that in districts like Korba, Dantewada and Raigarh, where sufficient District Mineral Fund (DMF) are available, some colleges should be identified and developed as national level model colleges of specific subjects.
He said that such colleges can become a center of study not only for the students of the state but also for the students of the country and abroad.
The Chief Minister emphasised on adopting the policy of ‘Professor of Practice’ in line with the new education policy. He said that by connecting renowned subject experts from various fields to teaching, students will get direct benefit of practical knowledge and contemporary information. In this sequence, he also directed to make special strategy and efforts to make Indira Kala Sangeet University, Khairagarh more advanced.
On this occasion, Secretary of Higher Education Department Dr. Bharatidasan presented detailed reports about the departmental activities.
He informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Usha Yojana, Bastar University has received a grant of Rs 100 crore under Meru Yojana (Multidisciplinary Education and Research University).
The Secretary informed that from the academic session 2024-25, National Education Policy 2020 has been implemented in 7 government and 17 private universities, 335 government and 321 private colleges of the state.
He also gave information about the various provisions of this policy and the major ongoing activities.
Higher Education Secretary Dr Bharatidasan also informed about the progress of work done under RUSA 1.0 and 2.0, departmental promotion of professors, status of recruitment on various posts by Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission and Vyapam and upcoming action plans. The upcoming action plans include ‘Professor of Practice’, skill upgradation, promotion of employment-oriented courses and promotion of skill-based entrepreneurship.
Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Basavaraju S, Higher Education Commissioner Dr Santosh Dewangan and senior officials of the Higher Education Department were present in this meeting.
