     New Delhi/Raipur, January 24, 2012: The Union Cabinet today approved a proposal and renamed Mana Airport as Swami Vivekanand Airport, Raipur.

     The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, approved a proposal to rename the Mana Airport as Swami Vivekanand Airport, Raipur, officials said.

     The renaming would fulfill a long pending demand of the people of Chhattisgarh and the state government.

     The world famous spiritual leader had spent about two years in Raipur and the renaming would be a homage to Swami Vivekanand.

     Raipur Airport belongs to Airports Authority of India (AAI), where about 85 domestic flights per week to and from Raipur are operating.
