Raipur/Dantewada May 02, 2012: When the people of Chhattisgarh are eagerly waiting for the release of Sukma District Collector Alex V F Paul Menon V, the Maoists today attacked a police party and killed a constable and injured four personnel in Dantewada District.
Maoists today attacked a police party at Bacheli weekly market and killed one of the security forces and injured an officer and three others, police sources said.
The incident took place when they were deployed in the weekly market, they said.
This incident assumed significance as the Maoists are supposed to release tomorrow Menon, whom they had kidnapped on April 21 from Majhipara when he had gone to attend a Gram Suraj meeting.
Chhattisgarh Governor Shekhar Dutt has expressed deep sorrow over the killing and also wished speedy recovery of the injured police men.
