Raipur, April 15, 2009: After a case was registered against the BJP Korba candidate Karuna Shukla for taking a press conference, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh skipped a similar occasion at the capital city today.
The BJP had sent invitation to all the media houses and representatives of a scheduled Press Conference of the Chief Minister at the Hotel Babylone Inn at noon.
However, after a case was reported to the Election Commission of India by the Election Observer of Korba Lalit Verma against Karuna Shukla, the BJP preferred to convert that into lunch party, although in the absence of the Chief Minister.
When contacted by the ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com, senior BJP leaders expressed ignorance about the reason of absence of Singh in his own press conference.
In fact, earlier in the day the Election Commission had registered a complaint against the BJP Korba candidate Karuna Shukla for taking a Press Conference yesterday at 6 PM as the Commission directive banned any campaign by the candidates or their followers after 4 PM on April 14 as the state was going to poll on April 16 for the 11 Lok Sabha seats.
