Raipur, May 01, 2012: The Maoists today said they would release the kidnapped Sukma District Collector Alex V F Paul Menon V on May 3 at Tadmetla.
The Collector would be handed over to the interlocutors Dr Brahma Dev Sharma and Prof G Haragopal at Tadmetla on May 3, the Maoists told the BBC Raipur Correspondent Salman Ravi through an SMS.
Through the message, South Bastar Divisional Committee Secretary of the CPI (Maoist) Vijay Madkam said they are grateful to their interlocutors, who have tried their best.
“On May 3, in the presence of the public, we will hand over the District Collector to our interlocutors,” Madkam said.
Earlier announcing the agreement reached between both the Maoist and government mediators, state Government interlocutor Nirmala Buch told reporters here yesterday night “The mediators nominated by the Maoists have agreed as a gesture of goodwill to ensure the safe return of Alex within 48 hours i.e. on or before the 2nd of May 2012”.
