Minister Netam meets Union Agriculture Minister; proposals for Rabi crop approved

Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, today met with Chhattisgarh’s Agriculture Minister, Ramvichar Netam, in New Delhi and praised the Chhattisgarh government’s work in the agriculture sector.

     Raipur, January 20, 2026: Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, today met with Chhattisgarh’s Agriculture Minister, Ramvichar Netam, in New Delhi and praised the Chhattisgarh government’s work in the agriculture sector.

      Chouhan said that the Chhattisgarh government’s work in the field of agriculture is commendable. He appealed to the Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister to implement the schemes of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare more rapidly in the state.

     The Union Agriculture Minister said that this will enable farmers to benefit from central schemes, allowing Chhattisgarh farmers to engage in agricultural activities with greater enthusiasm. This will increase their income and strengthen the agricultural economy.

     During the meeting, Chouhan also inquired about the progress of the Rabi crop 2025-26 and the Price Support Scheme in the state from the Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister. He expressed satisfaction with the state’s progress on both these issues.

     During the meeting, the proposals for the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for the Rabi season 2025-26, submitted by the state government with the objective of promoting agriculture in Chhattisgarh, were discussed in detail. The central government approved the PSS proposals for gram, lentil, and mustard crops for Chhattisgarh.

      This approval has been granted for a 90-day scheme period in accordance with the PM-AASHA guidelines, which will ensure the purchase of produce at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers.

     On this occasion, Chhattisgarh’s Agriculture Minister Netam expressed his gratitude to Union Agriculture Minister Chouhan for this important decision taken in the interest of the state’s farmers, sources said.

     He said that with the cooperation of the central government, an effective system for procurement at support prices will be ensured in the state, which will increase farmers’ income and strengthen the agricultural sector.
