Raipur, November 07, 2014: Municipal elections in Chhattisgarh will be held on December 8 and 11, State Election Commissioner Prafulla Chandra Dalei announced today.
With the announcement of the poll dates, model code of conduct was enforced in the entire state with immediate effect, he said.
The state would have two rounds of elections for the urban local bodies on December 8 and 11 and counting will take place on December 15, Dalei said here.
On the first round election would be held in ten municipal corporations. However, election would not be held in Bhilai and Birgaon.
A total of 19 Notified Area councils and 22 Nagar panchayats would also go for polls on the first phase on December 8, Dalei said.
On the second round election would be held at 103 urban local bodies, including 20 notified Area council and 83 Nagar panchayats, on December 11 along with 1631 wards.
In Maoist areas the voting will take place from 7 AM to 3 PM and in the rest of the areas it would be 7 AM to 5 PM, he said.
The voting would be held through EVMs, Dalei said.
