Raipur, August 21, 2009: AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today said naxalites menace was a political as well as law and order problem and the Chhattisgarh government was doing nothing to solve that.
“Naxalism is a political as well as law and order problem and should be handled accordingly,” Gandhi told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com here.
He also sought independent feedback from Chhattisgarh on various issues, the state was confronting.
“It always happens that people asked me questions. But they need to understand I also have some questions and I need feedback on that and that gap should be filled by the media,” the prominent Congress leader said on his second day of visit of Chhattisgarh.
Earlier, addressing a press conference, Gandhi made Chhattisgarh Government responsible for the naxal menace of the state.
The lack of presence of the Chhattisgarh government in many regions of the state was responsible for the increase in naxal menace here in the state, he said.
Replying to another question on the handling of naxal issue, he clearly said “Chhattisgarh Government is not doing a good job on that front.”
However, at the same time, he said “naxal is a national problem and we have to act together to solve that.”
When he was reminded that his father and the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had solved the extremist issues of Mizoram, Assam and Punjab through political dialogues and asked would he take any such initiative to find a political solution to the naxal problem of the country, he said he cannot thought of touching the height of his father.
But the naxal issue needs to be solved, he added.
