Raipur, February 3, 2009: Maoists have killed 241 people in the year 2008 in Chhattisgarh, the state assembly was informed today.
Between January 1, 2008 and January 12, 2009, the Maoists have killed 241 people in the state and the families of 126 naxal victims have been awarded compensation of about Rs 8.83 crore during that period, Home Minister Nanki Ram Kanwar told the state assembly today.
During that period 82 naxalites were killed in encounters, replying to an unstarred question of Dr Haridas Bharadwaj of Congress, the Home Minister said.
As many as 164 naxalites and 431 Sangham members were arrested during that period, he said.
