Raipur, September 24, 2016: Chhattisgarh would celebrate its foundation day this year for one day only due to irregular rainfall in many districts.
“Looking into the prevailing scanty rainfall condition in some districts of Chhattisgarh, the state government has decided to celebrate the occasion for a day,” Chief Secretary Vivek Kumar Dhand told a preparatory meeting.
The meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary, has also decided to hold the state foundation day function “Rajyotshav-2016” on November 1 in the old Raipur, official sources said today.
“Instead of the ceremony at Naya Raipur, this year the foundation day celebration will be held at Budhapara indoor stadium,” the officials said.
In the year 2012 it was announced that the Rajyotshav and other related functions would be held at Naya Raipur.
State Culture Department has been made the nodal agency for organizing the Rajyotshav-2016, the officials said.
Chhattisgarh was carved out from Madhya Pradesh on November 1, 2000 and since then the state was celebrating its foundation day with fun and fair.
