Dhamtari/Raipur, January 14, 2013: One more case of rape with a student has been reported in Chhattisgarh, creating a fear among the people about the safety and security in tribal pockets.
A high school student of Nagri block in Dhamtari district has alleged that she was raped by a teacher, official sources said.
Although report suggested that the Dhamtari administration took time to react to the complaint but subsequently the accused teacher was arrested.
Police has arrested an Assistant Teacher (Panchayat) and has also been placed under suspension after the allegation, official sources confirmed in Raipur.
A senior teacher Ramesh Kumar Nagesh has also been suspended for not taking prompt action on the matter after he was informed about the alleged incident.
This incident has created resentment among the local people as the district administration took time to react to the allegation, which was alleged to have taken place about a month ago, according to locals.
After several residents of a pre-metric tribal Ashram hostel had alleged rape in Narharpur block of Kanker district, similar allegation were reported from Balod district.
In both the Balod and Kanker incidents several people, including women, have been arrested.
