New Delhi, October 30, 2022: More than 80 people were killed today in Gujarat after a hanging bridge collapsed in Morbi district.
The death toll may increase further, the sources said.
Over 80 people were killed when a suspension bridge collapsed into the Machchhu river, they said adding the incident took place in Morbi, about 300 km from capital Gandhinagar.
NDRF and forces have been deployed for rescue operation.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the victims of the mishap in Morbi.
Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of each of those who lost their lives in the mishap and the injured would be given Rs 50,000.
