     Raigarh, December 11, 2009: For better payment structure and procurement policy, a large number of farmers from Orissa and also middle men are trying to push their agriculture products into Chhattisgarh side, officials said today.

     Raigarh is located close to Orissa border and taking advantage of that, the farmers and the middle men from the neighbouring state are trying to sale their paddy in the cooperative societies of Chhattisgarh, they said.

     Looking into that Raigarh District Collector Munish Kumar Tyagi has directed the officials to put up barriers in the Orissa border to check smuggling in to Chhattisgarh of paddy.

     The District Collector has also asked the officials to keep a strict vigil on the paddy procurement process of the bordering area and carry out surprise checking also.

     In one such incident, action had been initiated against Kedar Society Manager Mithai Lal Sahu after Sub Divisional Magistrate Yashwant Kumar made physical verification of the stock and found excess of 1217 gunny bags from the society, they said.
