Raipur, November 06, 2011: Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Nand Kumar Patel today said he has decided not to celebrate his birth day looking into the incident in which scores of people have lost their eye sights during government sponsored cataract operation.

“I have decided not to celebrate my birth day on November 8 after scores of people have lost their sights in Durg, Kawardha and Rajnandgaon districts,” Patel said here.

A total of 1438 people were operated upon in eye camps, including 334 in Balod of Durg District from September 22 to 30, out of which six have died and 50 people become blind in Balod, where as ten people of Kawardha and eight of Rajnandgaon camps have lost their eye sight, Patel claimed.

The state government or the district administration had neglected the patients after the operation, because of which so many people lost their sights or are dead, the PCC President claimed adding under this circumstance he had decided not to celebrate his birth day on November 08.

He had also appealed to the party workers not to celebrate his birth day; rather party workers should spend their time and energy on poor people or those, who have lost their eye sight in the state government eye camps, he added.
