Raipur, March 14, 2011: Strong opposition to Polabaram Dam by Chhattisgarh and Orissa have started yielding results as the Centre has decided to go for public hearing on the Dam project of the Andhra Pradesh.
In a letter to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh Union Environment and Forest Minister Jairam Ramesh has intimated about holding public hearing on the Polabaram project, Chief Minister Singh said yesterday evening in a function.
About 17,000 acre land of 18 to 20 villages of South Bastar would be submerged if Polabaram project was implemented and both Odisha and Chhattisgarh have decided to oppose that Irrigation project, a state government release today said.
