Raipur, December 10, 2008: After Congress was defeated in the Chhattisgarh Assembly election the fight for the post of Leader of Opposition has intensified.
Majority of the MLAs wanted that the former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi should become the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, senior party legislature Nand Kumar Patel told reporters here.
During the meeting of the Congress legislature party the issue would be raised before the central observer, sources close to the Jogi camp said.
However, rival camp of Jogi said they wanted Ram Pukar Singh as the Leader of Opposition.
Ram Pukar has a clean image and had also defeated the state BJP President Vishnu Dev Sai, rival camp sources told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
Ram Pukar has also been a senior tribal leader who had been elected to the State assembly for the seventh time, they said indicating that there could be intense lobbying for the Leader of Opposition post.
