     New Delhi, December 02, 2011: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today demanded the Centre to increase the minimum support price of paddy or give bonus to compensate loss of farmers.

     The Chief Minister today met Union Food Minister K V Thomas here and demanded increase in the support price of paddy, officials said.

     The cost of production has increased many fold and the farmers should be paid adequate price to their commodity, Singh said.

     Looking into the input cost, the minimum support price be increased or the farmers be given bonus to compensate their loss, he told the Union Minister.

    The Central Minister said a committee decides the MSP of paddy and since rice is the main crop in Chhattisgarh, the problem of the state would be put forth before that committee.
