Dantewada, April 18, 2012: Giving a surprise to the Maoists, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today began his connect village programme Gram Suraj from Kasoli village of Dantewada district, close to the Maoist den Abujhmad area.
The first part of the seventh Gram Suraj Abhiyan was started today from the maoist violence hit Kasoli village in Geedam block of Dantewada district. Due to Maoists violence large number of people had been displaced from this area during Salwa Judum campaign.
The Chief Minister made a surprise landing in the village and after interaction with the locals, announced several projects worth Rs 21 crore, including a drinking water project for the benefit of seven nearby villages, officials told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
The first day of the seventh Gram Suraj went to hyper sensitive Bastar region as after visiting Kasoli, the Chief Minister went to Mirtur of Bijapur district, Polampalli of Sukma district and Tokapal of Bastar district before conducting a review meeting with the officials and people’s representatives at Jagdalpur.
In all the places, Singh discussed with the villagers about their problems and even some of them were solved on the very spot by sanctioning money for treatment of some children or opening educational institutes, providing drinking water facility and other infrastructures to the underdeveloped area of the state.
The ambitious Gram Suraj Abhiyan of Chief Minister Singh was started today and would continue up to April 27, 2012.
The first part of the campaign would be carried out from April 18 to 21, and the second part from April 23 to 27.
Since 2005, the Gram Suraj Abhiyan had been carried out in the state by the BJP government to understand the pulse of the people and only in 2009 it was discontinued due to enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha election.
During the campaign period the Chief Minister would make surprise landing at any of the 20,000 villages and interact with the people to understand their issues and try to resolve that.
