Jagdalpur, April 13, 2013: Chhattisgarh administration today clarified that the ration cards issued by the state government cannot be used as a proof of identity.
Ration cards cannot be used for identifying a person, and that would not be accepted as a proof of identity, Bastar District Collector Anbalgan P said.
The electoral photo identity card can be used as a proof of identity in all legal purpose and ration cards can no longer be used for that purpose, the District Collector said.
And ration cards could only be used to draw rations under the Food Security Scheme of the state government, he clarified.
Anbalgan has also appealed to the people to submit applications for having their voter identity card and ration card.
