Raipur, February 02, 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the budget allocation of Rs 7,470 crore for railway infrastructure development in Chhattisgarh.

Chief Minister Sai said that due to the continuous efforts of the double-engine government, unprecedented changes are being witnessed in the railway sector in Chhattisgarh today.

The budget allocation of Rs 7,470 crore in 2026-27, compared to an annual average of Rs 311 crore during 2009-14, represents a record increase of approximately 24 times, he said.

Currently, railway works worth Rs 51,080 crore are underway in the state, including important projects such as new track construction, station redevelopment, and safety upgrades, Sai said.

The commencement of the Raoghat-Jagdalpur rail project connecting Jagdalpur in the remote forest region of Bastar is an invaluable gift from the central government to the tribal community of Bastar, which will pave the way for new regional development, he said.

Along with the Parmalkasa-Kharsia corridor, a new freight corridor has also been approved. These projects will almost double the number of passenger trains in Chhattisgarh in the coming years, the Chief Minister said.

Under the Amrit Station scheme, 32 railway stations in the state are being modernized, including stations like Dongargarh (Phase-I), Ambikapur, Bhanupratappur, Bhilai, and Urkura, which have already been completed, he said.

In addition, two pairs of Vande Bharat Express and one pair of Amrit Bharat Express services are providing fast, safe, and modern rail facilities to passengers in the state. The Chief Minister said that with the construction of approximately 1,200 kilometers of new railway tracks, 100 per cent electrification, 170 flyovers/underpasses, and the installation of modern safety systems like ‘Kavach’ since 2014, Chhattisgarh is becoming one of the leading states in the country in the field of railway infrastructure.

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and Railway Minister Vaishnaw on behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh for these “transformative” initiatives.

Sai said that this development is not limited to railway tracks alone, but is also infusing new energy into the state’s trade, tourism, industry, employment, and the lives of the common people.
