Ambikapur, December 14, 2009: Production in the Sarguja Sugar Factory could be started from the new year of 2010.

The process to start production of sugar had already been started and by the New Year the Maa Mahamaya Cooperative Sugar factory would start production, officials said.

Currently Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory was the only Sugar mill in the state, located in Kawardha district, which was established during the Congress regime led by Ajit Jogi.

However, the Raman government had decided to have two more sugar factories in the state and as a part of that a sugar factory was established at Kerta village under Pratappur block of Sarguja district with an expenditure of Rs 117 crore.

The new sugar factory would crush 2500 tonnes of cane every day, officials said.

Sarguja District Collector and Chairman of the Factory Dr Kamal Preet Singh, meanwhile said the sugar cane producers would be getting all the benefits as declared by the Union and the state governments and also other facilities for providing their produces to the factory.
