     New Delhi, January 17, 2010: Career bureaucrat and a 1969-Batch IAS officer Shekhar Dutt is appointed as the new Governor of Chhattisgarh.

     President Pratibha Patil formally appointed late last night current state Governor ESL Narasimhan as the full time Governor of Andhra Pradesh.

     After Narayan Dutt Tiwari was caught in a sex scandal and resigned, Narasimhan had been given the additional charge of Andhra Pradesh and now he had been shifted to the neighbouring state.

     Shekhar Dutt is a Madhya Pradesh Cadre IAS officer, who had even been posted as the Commissioner of Raipur during the undivided Madhya Pradesh days.

     A prominent Congress leader Urmila Singh of Madhya Pradesh has been appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. Singh is having close family link with the Saraipali royal family of Mahasamund district in Chhattisgarh.
