Unprecedented 22-Fold Increase in Capex For Chhattisgarh Railway in 11 Years: FM Choudhary

     Raipur, February 01, 2026: Chhattisgarh Finance Minister O P Choudhary said today, after watching the live telecast of the Union Budget 2026-27 at the district headquarters in Ambikapur, that in the last 11 years of the Modi government’s tenure, capital expenditure (Capex) for railway infrastructure in Chhattisgarh has increased 22 times.

     This is a major achievement for the industrial and social development of the state, he added.

     Minister Choudhary, who holds the portfolios of Finance, Commercial Taxes, Housing and Environment, Planning and Statistics, watched the live telecast of the Union Budget 2026-27 at the Circuit House in Ambikapur along with prominent citizens of the city and discussed the technical aspects of the budget and future plans.

     After the budget presentation, the Finance Minister said that today is a historic day for the Indian economy. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has set a new record by presenting the budget for the 9th consecutive time.

     He said that the political stability that has come to the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the reason why the government is able to take such tough and far-sighted decisions.

     Discussing the state in particular, Choudhary highlighted the railway sector. He informed that in the last 11 years of the Modi government’s tenure, capital expenditure (Capex) for railway infrastructure in Chhattisgarh has increased 22 times. This is a major achievement for the industrial and social development of the state.

     He said that this budget is not just an account of one year, but a strong step towards making India a ‘developed nation’ by 2047.  Due to the government’s policies in the last 11 years, more than 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty, which reflects our commitment to inclusive development.

     The budget prioritises futuristic subjects such as the AI ​​Mission, Critical Minerals, Waterways, Dedicated Freight Corridors, and High-Speed ​​Railways. A historic increase has been made in capital expenditure to strengthen the country’s infrastructure, which will create new employment opportunities.

     He expressed confidence that this budget will take the economy of Chhattisgarh, and indeed the entire country, to new heights.
