Jagdalpur, July 6, 2009: Because of the careless attitude of the Government officials, Maoists have looted a vehicle-load of high grade explosives from the hyper sensitive Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.
Maoists have looted about 2500 detonators of a private party from a vehicle, Bastar District Superintendent of Police Praveer Kumar Das told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com here today.
Although he refused to reveal more, saying the matter was under investigation, police sources said because of the careless attitude of the government officials such a huge quantity of explosives have landed in the hand of Maoists.
Giving details they said two vehicles full with high grade explosives had left Raipur for Kirandul area without any security guards. After a brief stopover at a Sonarpal dhaba, close to Jagdalpur, one of the vehicles reached its next destination. However, one was remained untraced after which the Bastar police was informed.
The driver of the second vehicle subsequently reportedly told police that some uniformed men came to the eating joint and directed him to take the vehicle to a forest area near Madhota and unloaded the entire stock of explosive and then let him go without causing any harm to him.
It was surprising, how the authorities had allowed the explosive laden vehicles to go to Dantewada without any arms guards.
