Raipur, April 05, 2011: Looking into the water scarcity situation in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today said a state wide campaign would be launched to promote water conservation in the state.
Immediately after the Gram Suraj Abhiyan, a campaign would be launched to clean and deepening various water bodies, including rivers and ponds of the state, Singh said here.
This water conservation campaign would be carried out with people’s participation, he said.
Last year the campaign was mostly focussed on Shivnath River and this year it would be centred on Kharun River.
Besides that, various check dams would be constructed at village level for rain water harvesting, he said.
The Gram Suraj Abhiyan would be carried out in two phases from April 19 to 23 and April 25 to 29.
