Raipur, September 3, 2008: A new secretary for the Village Industry Department my not be a big news for many but insiders in the corridor of power attached much importance to today’s administrative reshuffle blaming the in fight with in the IAS lobby for that.
In a surprise event the Village Industry Department was taken away from the 1987 batch Chittaranjan Kumar Khetan and given to 1991 batch Renu Gonela Pillay
when the Minister Kedar Kashyap was said to be happy with him.
Khetan was made Secretary of Village Industry on May 12, 2007 and Director of the same Department and the Hast Shilpa Vikas Board from July 9, 2007 and he would be relieved from those departments once Pillay takes charges, official order said here today.
However, the insiders had given much importance to this transfer saying there was much more than what was seen on the surface.
Khetan has been on a head on collision with Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Vivek Dhand and in a recent IAS Officers Association meeting both sides had a clash over the issues of the members, sources said.
Also there was a move to bring Pillay to the Secretariat once again as after she attracted the wrath of the Revenue Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal over an issue to be brought before the cabinet, she was posted in a lesser important post of Commissioner of Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme on April 14, 2008.
A section of the IAS lobby wanted her to be back to the mainstream of Mantralaya as the Secretary of an important department and this posting was a first step in that direction, the sources claimed.
Also after losing the Director Public Relations post the 1996 batch Brij Bhushan Lal Tiwari was posted in the Higher Education Department as the Joint Secretary and today he was also given an additional charge of Technical Education Department as Joint Secretary, the GAD order said.
State Administrative Service officer Iffat Ara has also been shifted from Korba and posted in Raipur as Joint Collector.
