Jagdalpur, January 15, 2016: At least four Maoists were shot dead in an early morning gun battle in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh and police claimed they have recovered four Chinese made hand grenades from them.
“‘After an early morning gun battle, police has recovered dead bodies of four Maoists with weapons and other materials,” Bijapur district Superintendent of Police Kanhaiya Lal Dhruv told ChhattosgarhTopNews.com.
On a tip off police party was on a combing operation when the shoot out took place in the woods of Gangalur area, Dhruv said.
The incident took place in Gangalur area of Bijapur district.
Bijapur district has a dominance of left wing extremists for nearly two decades.
”After the fierce gun battle bodies of one female and three male Maoist cadres have been recovered from the jungle along with four rifles,” the police officer said.
”More significantly the police have recovered from the Maoists four China made hand grenades,” Dhruv said.
No one from the security forces side has been killed or injured in the incident, he added.
Additional forces have reached the area and searching the terrain to find more bodies and weapons, the SP said.
