Raipur, August 7, 2009: Former Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi today targetted the Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh in purchase of wireless sets to Police and Forest Departments.
“With out any proper tender process, crores rupees worth of wireless sets and other equipments were purchased from a company, run by one BJP leader of Maharashtra,” claimed Jogi in a press conference.
The Telematic Engineers (P) Ltd was also having Vivek Saxena as its Resident Director to run its business in Chhattisgarh, Jogi said adding Saxena is currently posted as the Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh.
The State Government needs to explain, when several quality equipments of international standard were available in the market, why the State Police Headquarters and the Forest Department went for such a company and procured comparatively inferior wireless sets, putting the lives of police and forest people in risk, he added.
Releasing some documents, Jogi also claimed without any tender the annual maintenance contract (AMC) was awarded to the Company represented by Saxena and demanded a detailed probe into the entire matter.
Despite several attempts, Saxena could not be contacted for his version.
