Rajnandgaon, November 23, 2008: Eight polling officials of Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh were arrested today after allegation of false voting were levelled in the Mohla-Manpur constituency.
Under various sections of the Representation of the People Act and the IPC, eight polling officials were arrested today after the Election Commission took seriously the allegations of false voting in Muchar and Dorde booths of the Mohla-Manpur segment of the district, Rajnandgaon District Superintendent of Police V K Choubey told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com today.
It was earlier alleged that the polling parties had not gone to the booths and furnished reports that the votes were conducted there in a proper manner.
However, when the Central Election Commission took the allegation seriously and asked the Chief Electoral Officer of the state Dr Alok Shukla to probe the matter individually, the polling parties said since it were locked they conducted the votes in front of the booths.
For that matter the district Collector Sanjay Garg was also asked by the Commission to clarify his position.
