Raipur, April 10, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai have expressed their sorrow over the death of at least 12 passengers as a bus fell in a 50-feet deep roadside pit in Durg district of Chhattisgarh.
Modi and Sai have also wished speedy recovery of the injured.
“My sympathy goes to the bereaved family. I also wish speedy recovery of the injured. The state government is helping the injured,” the Prime Minister said in a message through social media platform X.
All steps are taken for proper treatment of the injured in the accident, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai also said through X.
Sai also wished speedy recovery of the injured.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma reached the hospital and spoke to the injured and directed the administration to provide all possible assistance to the injured and the bereaved families.
Including three females, a total of 12 persons were killed and about 18 injured five of them seriously, last night as Kedia Distillery hired company bus, in which they were travelling in, slipped into a road side deep pit, Durg district Superintendent of Police Jitendra Shukla had told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
The incident took place at Kumhari area of Durg district.
Giving details of the accident, Shukla said after the shift was over when about 32 employees were returning back from their duty the bus slipped into a road side deep pit.
It was a plain and straight road. But the bus all of a sudden drove to the right and fell into a deep roadside pit, primary investigation revealed.
In that incident 12 passengers were killed, including three females, and five persons are serious, the Durg SP said.
On information disaster management team, police and local people reached the spot and rescued the injured and were shifted to various hospitals.
A magistrate inquiry has also been ordered into the incident.
