Raipur, November 18, 2024: Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka today said the Indian Audit and Accounts Department is a bridge of trust between the government and public, which ensures that every resource is utilised properly and every decision is in the interest of the society.
The role of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department is very important in strengthening the roots of Indian democracy, Governor Deka said while inaugurating the Audit Week at the Principal Accountant General’s Office here today.
Audit is not limited to the examination of government expenditure and revenue only, it is a powerful medium of administrative transparency, financial discipline and accountability in public service, he added.
The Indian Audit and Accounts Department not only works to bring financial discipline in government work, but also plays an important role in preventing corruption and irregularities, the Governor said.
The impartiality and diligence of the officers of this department has established it as a strong institution, he added.
The Comptroller and Accountant General (CAG) has an important role in Indian administration and financial management. The Constitution makers have established CAG as an autonomous and independent institution in financial control, due to which it has a prominent status in monitoring and ensuring transparency of public finance, Deka added.
Earlier Principal Accountant General Yashwant Kumar delivered the welcome address and Accountant General Mohammad Faizan had given the vote of thanks.
