Raipur, January 9, 2024: In a significant political development, former MLA and top leader of the Jogi Congress Amit Jogi has met the powerful Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The meeting took place at Delhi yesterday, Amit Jogi said.
Without giving details of the discussion, he said it was a “sistachar bhent” (courtesy call).
However, sources claimed, a host of issues, including current political situation after the defeat of Congress and voted to power of a BJP government at Chhattisgarh, were discussed during the meeting between Jogi and Shah.
The meeting attached much significance as in a couple of months India is going to poll for Lok Sabha.
In the November 2023 state Assembly Election Amit Jogi had unsuccessfully contested from the Patan segment from his Jogi Congress Party against the then Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
After the meeting of two Amits, speculation are on that Amit Jogi could seek the ticket from Korba Lok Sabha seat, which is currently represented by Jyotshna Mahant, wife of current Leader of Opposition Dr Charan Das Mahant.
Amit Jogi was MLA from Marwahi from 2013 to 2018. Marwahi is also falling under the Lok Sabha seat of Korba.
Amit Jogi could not contest the Marwahi (ST) seat after his tribal caste certificate was cancelled by the Bhupesh Baghel government saying he was not a tribal and had a fake caste certificate.
Recently Amit Jogi and his mother and three times MLA Dr Renu Jogi met the Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and discussed a host of issues.
Some political pundits are also suggesting that the Jogi Congress could be merged with the BJP in a new political development.
