     Raipur, November 05, 2022: The Election Commission of India today announced the date for by-poll of Bhanupratappur assembly segment, which is laying vacant after the death of its senior legislature Manoj Singh Mandavi.

      Voting will be held on December 5 and the counting on December 8 for the Bhanupratappur by-election in Kanker District in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, the Election Commission said today.

     Three time Congress MLA from Tribal reserved assembly segment of Bhanupratappur and Deputy Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi passed away on October 16 last following a massive cardiac arrest and the Election Commission has decided to fill the vacant seat when the general election for state Assembly is less than a year.

     Notification for the by-election will be issued on November 10 and with that the process for filing nomination will be started, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Chhattisgarh Reena Babasaheb Kangale told reporters here.

     Last date of filing nomination for the tribal reserved seat is November 17, she said.

     Scrutiny of the nomination is on November 18, the senior IAS officer said.

     Candidates can withdraw their nominations up to November 21.

     The voting will takes place on December 5 and the counting on December 8, the CEO said.
