     Raipur, November 05, 2022: The Election Commission of India today enforced Model Code of Conduct in the entire Kanker district after declaring December 5 as the date for Bhanupratappur assembly by-election.

     “With the announcement of the date for Bhanupratappur assembly by-poll, Model Code of Conduct has been put in place in the entire Kanker district with immediate effect,” Chief Electoral Officer of Chhattisgarh Reena Babasaheb Kangale said here today.

     Earlier in the day the Election Commission had announced the date for by-poll of Bhanupratappur assembly segment, which is laying vacant after the death of its senior legislature Manoj Singh Mandavi.

     Three time Congress MLA from the Tribal reserved assembly segment of Bhanupratappur and Deputy Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi passed away on October 16 last following a massive cardiac arrest.

      Voting will be held on December 5 and the counting on December 8 for the Bhanupratappur by-election in Kanker District in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, the EC said today.

     Notification for the by-election will be issued on November 10 and with that the process for filing nomination will be started, CEO Kangale told reporters here.

     Last date of filing nomination for the tribal reserved seat is November 17 and the scrutiny is on November 18, the senior IAS officer said.

     Candidates can withdraw their nominations up to November 21.

     The voting will takes place on December 5 and the counting on December 8, she added.
