      Raipur, January 23, 2012: Chhattisgarh Government today alerted all its officials to keep an eye on Bird Flu cases in the state.

     The Veterinary Department has issued the warning to keep an eye on possible spread of avian influenza in the state after such cases of H5N1 have been reported in two of the neighbouring states.

     Cases of H5N1 have been reported from Jamshedpur district of Jharkhand and Khurda district of Odisha, officials said adding an alert has been issued to check any possibility of spread of bird flu in Chhattisgarh.

     Keep an eye on commercial and backyard birds and immediately inform the headquarters of any untimely or unnatural death of birds in any of the blocks of the state, the letter from the Veterinary Department told the district officials.

     It had also urged the officials to keep an eye on the import of birds from both Jharkhand and Odisha in to the state.
