Raipur, June 23, 2023: Chhattisgarh capital Raipur would have a Centre of Excellence for the research of Sickle Cell disease in the state.
Laying the foundation stone for the Centre of excellent at Raipur, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said this would benefit even the neighbouring states.
Besides free of cost examination and treatment, research works would also be carried out at the Centre of Excellence, he said.
Spread over 2.96 acre lands the research centre would be established with a cost of Rs 48.12 crore, he said.
This Centre would have the world class facilities for examination, treatment and research, he said.
Talking about the sickle cell the Chief Minister said about 10 per cent of the population of Chhattisgarh affected by this disease.
“This is not a small number. This is a huge figure and that is why it is a challenge,” he said.
