Raipur, November 01, 2024: Chhattisgarh is celebrating its foundation day today.
Due to regional imbalance in developmental activities of undivided Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh was created on November 1, 2000, when Atal Behari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister.
Chhattisgarh was carved out from Madhya Pradesh to fulfil the aspiration of the people of the new state.
The state assembly has 90 members and it has 11 Lok Sabha seats.
Chhattisgarh has over 44 per cent forest cover and about 32 per cent of its population are tribal.
The new state has achieved tremendous growth after it came into existence.
The political stability and industrial peace with development has propelled Chhattisgarh into a prominent state in the country.
The Maoists violence has also been more or less controlled now compared to what it was when the state was created in 2000.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has greeted the people on the state foundation day of the state.
Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh and other leaders also wished the people on this occasion.
