Raipur, January 22, 2013: Chhattisgarh Government today decided to have a stronger Act to arrest the atrocities against women and children in the state.
To bring an effective control on the atrocities against women and girl children, the state government would bring in a legislation, official sources said.
The state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, discussed the matter today and favoured a legislation for more period of rigorous imprisonment for involvement in atrocities against women and girl children.
A legislation for amendment to the existing provisions would be introduced in the coming assembly session, the sources said.
Chhattisgarh has a higher number of cases on atrocities against the women.
