Raipur, January 25, 2009: After a high level discussion today, the agitating employees of the former State Electricity Board withdrew their stir, Chhattisgarh Government said.
The leaders of the Electricity Employees Coordination Committee had a discussion with Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh at his residence after which the employees had withdrawn their agitation, a state government release said here.
After having a discussion with the in-charge Power Secretary Ajay Singh and Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen, the employees had a final round of discussion with the Chief Minister on their issues, including the unbundling of the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board into five companies.
To consider the demands of the employees, a high level committee would be constituted, in which experts from finance, taxation and electricity besides state government officials would be made members, the Chief Minister assured them.
The Committee would also study the impact after the unbundling of electricity board in other states and submit its report in four months time and a decision would be taken accordingly, Singh said after which the employees announced to withdraw their strike, the release added.
