Korba, May 11, 2010: The death toll in the worst ever Coal mine disaster in Chhattisgarh has gone up to 10 with recovery of four bodies of the rescue team in the Anjan Hill underground coal mine in Korea District, authority said today.
“Four bodies of the rescue team have been recovered and with that the death toll on the May 6 coal mine blast disaster has gone up to ten,” Chairman cum Managing Director of the South Easter Coalfield Limited M P Dikshit told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
After an air blast a rescue team had entered the underground coal mine and after that there was no information about them, Dikshit said adding four bodies of the first rescue team have been recovered so far.
Two bodies of the rescue team had been recovered earlier (Ravindra Sahu, Dil Bahadur) and two more bodies were recovered in the last 24 hours and they have been identified as Santosh Kumar Yadav and SBR Raju, he said.
Various rescue teams have been searching for the whereabouts of Tapan Kumar Sarkar and Abhishek Mishra, who were the part of the six-member rescue team, who entered the mines immediately after hearing the incident to rescue the miners and got trapped.
Thirty two people were injured in that incident, the SECL authority said.
