Raipur, January 10, 2010: Chhattisgarh Government today claimed to have administered over 82 per cent children of the state of pulse polio drop.

However, looking into the past experience, many of the people have questioned the rate of success claimed by the state Health Department.

Last year also the Health Department had carried out such drive for pulse polio immunization, but a larger chunk of localities had been left out in the capital city and many other cities, talking to ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com many people said.

It was a practice of marking the houses, where the immunization staff had reached, day after the pulse polio date. But people in many localities complaints that the health staff had never visited their houses.

“I have a child below five year and I forgot to administrate polio vaccine on the immunization date last year. I thought the Health officials will come to our house as a part of their door to door campaign but no one turned up,” said Chanchal.

Sunidhi, a resident of Geetanjali Nagar, complaint, for whole of the year no one came to their locality day after the polio date as  a part of the pulse polio drive to cover all children.

The matter had even been brought to the notice of the District administration and they had promised to look into the matter but nothing had happened, many claimed.

Hope the new Health Secretary Vikash Sheel would see that all children below the age of five years in the state are given polio vaccine without any fail.
