     Raipur, July 15, 2009: heavy downpour have thrown the capital city of Chhattisgarh totally out of gear and rendered many areas without power or drinking waters.

     It had been raining since yesterday, which had inundated many areas of Raipur and destroyed 28 houses and partially damaged 243 houses but no loss of life has been reported from ant part of the city.

     However, drain waters have entered even houses of many areas, which were so far treated as well planned areas of the city, including in Shankar Nagar, Geetanjali Nagar, Tagore Nagar, Civil Lines and many more.

     Although it was the first major rainfall of this monsoon, but that shown mirror to the Urban Development officials, starting from its Municipal officials to the Principal Secretary Urban Development.

     The PWD Minister and city MLA Brij Mohan Agrawal also took stock of the situation by personally visiting Dharam Nagar, Chhattisgarh Nagar, Professor Colony and Kushalpur areas.

    Besides those areas, the people of Gudhiyari, Changorabhata, Bhatagaon. Saddhu, Parvati Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, Khamardihi, Gayatri Nagar, Sherikhedi and Doma were also worst affected in the down pour, officials confirmed.
